Parkway Village Plaza, OR

Overview

Parkway Village is a retail center located in Southern Oregon. The facility has an existing PVC membrane roof over 3” of polyiso insulation that is less than (5) years old. The roof structure consists of 1 1⁄2 x 20-gauge metal decking supported by steel I-beams spaced about 8-feet on center, running in the north-south direction. The rooftop is populated with many mechanical units, vents, and elevated conduit throughout.

Design Development + Installation

Sunbreak Energy conducted a preliminary site analysis and developed a PV panel layout and system specification designed to meet the client's energy goals. SWIF Rack provided coordination services with Sunbreak Energy, Grummel Engineering, and Competitive Commercial Roofing for the purpose of developing a suitable rack design. Engineering relied on historical construction documents supplied by the building owner and verified with an on-site visit by Competitive Commercial Roofing. Grummel specified a custom “PCD” (Per Customer Design) SWIF foot designed to streamline the installation of the SWIF-to-Roof connections placed every 16' on center. No structural building modifications were required.

Onsite work was performed collaboratively by Competitive Commercial Roofing and Sunworks Solar. The team used a strategy of blocking or trimming the SWIF Stanchions as necessary to address the multi-directional, mechanically sloped flat roof. This maximized clearance over the crowded roof while achieving plumb, level and true arrays.
