Overview
This project features a new 27-story mixed-use residential tower in Arlington, Virginia, designed with an integrated green roof and rooftop photovoltaic system as part of its sustainability strategy. The roof assembly consists of a 4-inch post-tensioned concrete slab and an 8-inch green roof.

Conventional rooftop solar systems may conflict with green roof installations by limiting vegetation growth, restricting maintenance access, or requiring design compromises. SWIF Rack overcame these challenges by elevating the photovoltaic array above the green roof, which provides clearance for plant growth, efficient stormwater management, and long-term roof maintenance.

By allowing the green roof and solar array to function together without sacrificing the performance of either system, SWIF TEN maximizes the environmental benefits of the rooftop while protecting the long-term integrity of the building envelope. The integrated design supports the project's sustainability goals and contributes to its pursuit of LEED Gold certification.
