How does Elevating Bifacial Panels Improve Energy Production?
Bifacial solar panels generate electricity from both the front and rear surfaces. The rear side captures reflected light from the roof below, but only if enough light can reach it. Conventional low-profile systems sit close to the roof, limiting reflected light and trapping hot air under the modules, reducing their overall performance.
SWIF’s elevated design is purpose-built to capture that lost energy and convert it into long-term revenue. By raising the modules above the roof surface, SWIF Rack allows more reflected sunlight under the array. When paired with a high-albedo roof—such as a white reflective PVC membrane the effect is amplified.
When roof reflectivity, system design and site conditions align, the results can be impactful.
-
Up to ~20% increase in total energy production from bifacial gain
-
More consistent performance over time due to improved airflow and reduced heat buildup
-
Higher kWh output without adding panels or increasing system footprint
More light captured. More energy produced. Better financial performance—without increasing system size.
